OUR FIRST PRODUCT, ÓLAFSSON GIN,
WAS CREATED TO HONOR EGGERT ÓLFASSON, ICELAND’S MOST LOVED 18TH CENTURY EXPLORER AND GUARDIAN OF OUR NATIVE CULTURE.
Leaving no moss-covered rock unturned or strange farming ritual unexamined, Eggert Ólafsson spent five years exploring the length and breadth of the country’s diverse regions and its people. From thundering waterfalls and volcanoes to geysers and glaciers, he clambered across untamed tundra and met as many (or few, in the case of Iceland!) people as he could. And in 1772, he published the full account of his scientific expedition and cultural research trip he conducted between 1752 and 1757 in the Ferðabók, known as Travels in Iceland in English.
